Therapist-client fit is one of the most important predictors of successful therapy
Welcome to Safe Shore Counseling. I use a trauma-informed approach to work with adults in the state of KY experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship and family stressors, career and life transitions, and chronic pain. I also have a special interest in supporting individuals in the perinatal period as they navigate postpartum depression and anxiety, feeding challenges, and adjustment to their new roles. With each of my clients, I focus on strengths, goals, and capacity for growth.
I am Basic Trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based therapy that uses eye movements to process trauma and relieve related symptoms, often in a briefer time frame than other trauma treatment modalities.
I have a doctorate in music performance so I often use music therapeutically and enjoy helping creatives navigate the emotional and professional demands of creative work. I also have experience providing affirming, client-centered care that addresses the unique therapeutic needs of LGBTQ+ individuals.
While my practice primarily focuses on working with adults, I occasionally work with adolescents when it is a good fit, as I believe the quality of the therapist–client relationship is the most important factor in effective therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions:
As much as possible I like to work in-person because being with you gives me many more subtle clues about how to help. If you are processing trauma or addressing other symptoms with Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), I ask you to come in person. However, if we decide there are important reasons to meet via telehealth, that is also an option.

“Keep the knowledge, lose the pain.”
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a brief, evidence-based approach that helps people quickly reduce distress related to trauma and other difficult experiences. Using guided eye movements and imagery, ART helps the brain process painful memories and replace distressing images with more positive ones. During the process, the therapist alternates between working with images of the event and checking in with the body to notice and eliminate signs of somatic distress.
Many people experience significant relief in just one or a few sessions, and clients do not need to speak about the details of their experiences aloud if they prefer not to.
A growing body of reasearch about ART may be found by clicking the following link: https://acceleratedresolutiontherapy.com/evidence-based/. ART is recognized as evidenced-based by the Society of Clinical Psychology, Div. 12 of the American Psychological Association (APA).

Yes. Parents are welcome to bring their baby to sessions until the baby becomes mobile (crawling). You are welcome to feed, change, bounce, or soothe your baby as needed during our time together. At the same time, it can be helpful to consider whether you’ll feel able to talk about what you need to with your baby present. If you think you may need fewer interruptions or an environment conducive to releasing emotions, arranging childcare may be beneficial. If your baby becomes very distressed and cannot be soothed, we may need to reschedule the session for another time.
